After Chez Delmo closed (1932-2005), the people who ran the restaurant moved to the corner of Notre-Dame and Saint-Jean to continue the restaurant's acclaimed seafood tradition.
In June 2006, new owners, Simon Desjeans and Caroline Girard, took over the place and christened it "Le Nantua" after the name of a French fishing port near Lyon known for the same delicious Crayfish sauce that now appears on the new menu.
"I'm calling it Le Nantua because at night we had Shrimp Nantua at Delmo, with crayfish as the base for the sauce," said Simon Desjeans.
To the patron's delight, the menu hasn't changed that much. You can still find the best Cod, Perch and Halibut, as well as more subtle varieties of fish like Dover Sole, Chilean Redfish and Lake Trout. The Lobster is still as grand, and you'll definitely want to be there during Oyster season. It goes without saying that Le Nantua built its first-rate reputation on its fish, which arrive daily (if not twice daily) and on its generous portions.
Thanks to Le Nantua, tradition and know how from Delmo is well and alive and creating a new breed of loyal customers: the Nantuates!
